Nothing Small About This Smalltown Lineup

Bodzin, Dettmann and Dense + PIka will share drinks at smalltown to celebrate one glorious day in Melbourne...

Can you remember when you were after that one present when you were like 6-years old? That one item you started a campaign for about six months before your birthday? The day arrives, you wake up, anticipation mounting… and BAM… there it is. For once your parents listened, and you achieved your goal. Unfortunately, life would never reach those lofty heights again, ‘cause about two weeks after that you found out that Father Christmas was fake. Life hey.

In any case, that special day has arrived again. Novel has just announced what might be their biggest lineup since that one at Caulfield Racecourse with Mano Le Tough, Recondite and Dixon.

Rejoice! Stephan Bodzin is back. He is the man with the most potent electronic melodies to grace the earth since the Greek god Pan ripped out glorious riffs with a pan flute. Bodzin is so big (metaphorically speaking) he should probably be called Bodzilla.

Everyone says they like it hard, but then you show them hard and then all of a sudden hard is too hard. No? I guess that is just me then. Either way, a couple of years ago Marcel Dettmann played a set at RSF which should be considered illegal. The hardness of his mixes created mini-quakes, and he tried his hardest to split those massive Funktion Ones right down the middle. At Pitch Music & Arts this year Dettmann did the same: he casually rocked up, flexed his considerable biceps and played possibly one of the best sets these ears will hear this year. Goddamn sexy Dettmann hey, he always delivers.

If that dense lineup has not peaked your interest yet, then SURELY the addition of Dense + Pika should do it. The UK duo’s thick, heavy techno has taken them right to the top of the game, and their recent Essential Mix is more fun than 20 monkeys trying to paint your house. A riotous good time… fuck yeah.

Oh, and Sydney star Made In Paris will be joining proceedings in what is a well-deserved call-up for the producer/DJ. The Upon Access label owner's slick techno has impressed all and yonder, and her DJ sets are becoming increasingly harder to ignore. Make sure you dedicate some dancefloor time to her.

All in all, this is a win for everyone. So get tickets soon as no doubt these will sell out.

Oh and stay tuned for the venue which will be announced very soon…
