Strawberry Fields Announce Two Melbourne Sideshows

If you have been sitting on the fence about buying Strawberry Fields tickets, climb off and go stand in the ‘I’m not going’ section ‘cause it sold out.

May this be a lesson to never procrastinate again.

There is some sympathy from festival organisers though who has announced a couple of sideshows featuring Strawberry acts, and under the banner of Common Ground, the crew will deliver two shows in Melbourne at 24 Moons and XE54 respectively.

First up, will be a techno double at 24 Moons featuring two international acts whose combined sets might just be heavier than 24 actual moons. Belgian Peter Van Hoesen will return to follow up his last visit where for he played a one-off EBM set at the same venue - which for one hot minute turned Melbourne’s entire techno community into ‘EBM 4 lyfe’ experts; deadset fans who came out of the closet to finally show their EBM colours without fear of being musically persecuted. (s)

Hopefully, Peter can come back and play techno and spare us all the injustice of going through that community furore again.

Joining him will be Japan’s DJ Nobu who might just be one of the most underrated DJs on the planet. His label Bitta is a pillar of Japan's underground techno scene for a good reason: it’s bloody mint. In fact, it is so good it should be called Sweeta.

We saw Nobu play at Berghain once. (We just wanted to mention that we went to Berghain once).

If techno ain’t your thing then go to XE54 to check out current tech house maverick Honey Dijon. And if you consider her recent vow to not stream her sets again then this might be the only time you get to see her play. Her local stocks rose considerably since that Sugar Mountain set earlier this year so get your tickets now, surely this will sell out.

In fact, both should sell out so if you don’t want a repeat of the main festival indecisiveness, just buy your tickets now.
