The upcoming compilation is sounding pretty damn fresh...
If you know of the Balance Series you will know it is one of Australia’s longest running underground electronic music brands. Since 2001 they have been responsible for delivering CD mixes from some of the world’s best: Danny Tenaglia to Patrice Bäumel to Henry Saiz to James Holden and many more. (According to this Discogs punter Balance are responsible for three of the top five best mix compilations ever).
They have just announced their latest offering, and this time they have tapped Melbourne stalwart Uone for some well-needed balance. And it couldn’t have happened at a better time either: of late the Mornington Peninsula-native has been cutting swathes through Europe and the USA’s festival scenes, and his label Beat & Path is going from strength to strength.
For this two-disc mix, Uone has had a hand in every track, some under his own name, and some collaborations with artist like Jame Stevens, Mihai Popoviciu, Adam Freeland and Out of Sorts. In fact, Uone sees to prefer the collaborative process, equating it to working as part of a band.“Collaboration is something that I feel has been lost in production with the electronic age. Back in the day, the best magic was produced in bands with people coming together and weaving the collective vibe into one sound.”
