Zoo Twilights Announces It's 2020 Summer Lineup

Listening to live music whilst raising money to prevent the extinction of wildlife…

Picture this. It’s a balmy summer evening, you’re amidst a beautiful cornucopia of local flora and fauna with your nearest and dearest friends. You look to your right and a giraffe earnestly tops up your empty glass of wine, batting its eyelashes as it does so. Suddenly, you witness a family of meerkats nearby grazing on a picnic blanket, enjoying a modest selection of charcuterie on their quaint family outing beneath the stars, enjoying the blissfully sweet melodic entertainment coming from the main stage of the Zoo Twilights

Alright, whilst we cannot actually confirm that this is the exact scenario that occurs at the annual Zoo Twilights series, it surely can’t be that much of a stretch. Amazing music + great company + wild animals. The culmination of the three ingredients is a recipe straight from the Disney cookbook.

Yes, the Zoo Twilights are back in 2020. Hot off the tail of a stellar 2019 lineup that welcomed the likes of The Internet and Sampa The Great, their 2020 lineup certainly doesn’t disappoint. Kicking off the season is American singer, songwriter, and pianist Randy Newman, the legend behind this tear-jerking number →

Electronic pop duo Confidence Man will be the season’s debut headliners, with support from Wax’o Paradiso, as well as the dreamy jazz fusion of Stereolab with support from Melbourne psychedelic future-jazz band Mildlife. Perth based art-rock band Methyl Ethyl will be returning to Melbourne alongside local band Hatchie, amongst a season of artists that truly cater to every palette.

Taking place from 24th Jan to 7th Mar, proceeds from the series will be going to Zoos Victoria, a not for profit organisation dedicated to preventing the extinction of animals such as the Mountain Pygmy-Possum. Seriously. There’s never been a better reason to dance with the animals. Now don’t forget to set an alarm because tickets go on sale at 8am next Tue 22nd and it is going to be a frenzy.
