Lotus Moonchild is the definition of a triple threat, except she has many other threatening features…
And by threatening, we mean incredibly skilled, creative and talented. You only need to take one look at Lotus Moonchild’s performance to become completely swept up by her infectious energy behind the decks. Whether playing electronic, UK garage, bass, house, hip hop, funk or even disco, she’s traversed all corners of the creative sphere, garnering a considerable following whilst doing so. As a member of Melbourne based collective The Operatives, her impressive knowledge of genres have seen Lotus Moonchild support the likes of Soulection, Troyboi, Pharcyde, DJ Yoda, Jazzy Jeff and TokiMonsta.
Today, she might be best known for being a longstanding resident of The Late Show, Revolver’s established and highly popular Saturday night. She also featured on the club night’s recently released compilation The Late Show: As We know It, her dank, bass-heavy track ‘Stand By Sharon’ a definite standout. (On a side-note: with tracks from Lewis Cancut, Common Underground, Prequel, Jimmy Le Mac, Paz, Alex Virr and more, the compilation is well worth checking).

THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE MY MUSIC:
Low end, percussive and dark.
2. A FEMALE ARTIST EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW:
Madam X. I’m not sure if it’s her incredible selection, stamina for constant touring, or her Kaizen label that’s the standout. She’s just generally incredible.

4. THE LOCAL INDUSTRY NEEDS MORE:
Diversity. More representation of people of colour, queer and other genders other than male. Whitewashing and all straight male lineups get us nowhere. The talent in this city outside of that is absolutely enormous, there is literally no excuse. Ask your mates, look at DJ Sarah’s spreadsheet, and do something about it.
5. MY DRINK OF CHOICE AT A GIG:
I’m one of those people that recently got back from a Euro summer trip and now exclusively drinks Aperol Spritz. Yeah… I know.
6. WHAT EMPOWERS ME:
Strong creative women dismantling stereotypes.
