Alas, the allure of a first-class plane ticket, a massive pay packet and the opportunity to try and give a small section of a community ravaged by bushfires some temporary respite were not enough to entice him. Oh, and the chance to help celebrate 20 years of the club attributed to giving him his big break. SMH. Oh well, I guess that is why we love him?
In true Villalobos fashion, he cancelled his tour with the laid-back indifference of someone deciding whether they should have pizza or Mexican for dinner. Fabric, Subsonic and Novel had to scramble hard to get replacements acts for the fabric showcase, and they did a pretty good job. And as much as we wish we could see Ricardo either play the set of our lives or get dragged off the stage early for being too wasted, we are excited about these additions.
For the price of one Ricardo, we get Oliver Huntemann, Kornél Kovács and Archie Hamilton. That is pretty fkg tasty deal, and one excellent way to spend a Saturday celebrating a world-class institution like fabric. With six internationals for $70 we legit call that a bargain. And the best of it is we are 100% guaranteed sick sets from consummate professionals ready to live up to their reputations as international DJs. And doing it all because they still fucking love it.
