T3Y: Weiss

Get ready to have the work of Weiss stuck in your head As we check out his top 3 youtube items…

British artist Weiss can be considered the polar opposite to a musical one hit wonder. The guy literally has so many chart-toppers under his belt it’s near impossible you haven’t heard his work before. In fact, you’ve probably screamed his lyrics at the top of your lungs on a night out with the girls. Honing in on the elements of all great 90s house music, Weiss injects a modern electronic sensibility into that nostalgic party era, his tracks always featuring an infectious hook placed perfectly upon huge driving percussion. To paint you a picture of his sonic signature: Weiss sounds a lot like if you’re on a boat partying with your mates off the Ibiza coast. All in all, he’s seriously good.

Before Weiss heads to Australasia to embark on a huge national tour, we thought he would be a great candidate for our latest Top 3 Youtube segment. Let’s suss out what the interweb loves the most about Weiss, shall we?

  1. Weiss - Feel My Needs (Original Mix)

To be honest we can’t say we’re surprised that this is number one as it is a straight-up banger. Released in 2018, this track earned the #1 spot on five international music charts, as well as landing on the Radio 1 A-List, and being awarded a DJ Magazine’s ‘Best of British Winner’. Impressed yet? Give it a spin, it’ll certainly cure your Monday-itis.

Love your work Tracey, I can only hope I am still having a crack like you are at 50 years old.

2. Weiss LIVE from DJ Mag HQ

Definitely on the heavier side of things, with this DJ Mag set Weiss proves he’s a truly versatile act. Filled with back-to-back deep house bangers, if you’re in need of a little pre-drink, sure-fire good time, this 1 hour and 22 minutes of power might just be the recipe for you.

Google translate tells us that means ‘Buufffff my mother...’ 🤷🏻‍♂️

3. Weiss - You’re Sunshine (Original Mix)

Another one for the books, this track was probably the soundtrack to your 2016 summer. Released on Toolroom record label, the influence of Chicago house music is quite prominent in this track: the stabbing piano chords, the filtered vocal sample, and the overall feel-good vibe.

Not sure what ‘the gaff’ is Matthew, but we assume its a very good thing. (ED: ‘Gaff’ means house so he is saying on his return from Ibiza he was playing the song non-stop in his house. No probs, I’m here all day)
