Thick As Thieves Celebrates A Decade Of Music

TAT PAtrice.jpg

Ten years of touring and hosting shit-hot acts and events is a big achievement…

A decade in this industry is a long bloody time, and that sort of longevity is usually indicative of qualities that consist of more than just good business nous. Sure, TAT is responsible for touring international acts like Patrick Topping, Patrice Baumel, Claptone, Butch and a whole lot more, which would be part of the reason they are so ubiquitous, but the team behind the outfit is what really makes this business so successful.  They’ve even raised over $500K for charity

The team…

The team…

Founded by Mike Toner and ably assisted by right-hand man Damon Walsh, the TAT team (which, to be fair, does consist out of more than just that duo) are some of the sickest cunts to be found this side of the southern hemisphere. They are deadset legends, and a lot of their success can be attributed to their highly approachable nature and the way they have built a family around their business. They literally are thick as thieves, but only if the thieves consisted of the bloody friendliest family you’ve ever known. And if you pass the initiation of spending a whole weekend at Revolver, they will welcome you into their club with open arms (the initiation process might or might not be true; in fact, it is actually straight-up fake news sorry).

if you’ve ever wondered how the name Thick as Thieves came about, and we know you have, fret no more as Toner just revealed it all on social media: ‘The name “Thick as Thieves” comes from a good friend of ours who commented that Boogs and I were literally Thick as Thieves. When I first arrived in Melbourne in 2003, and experienced the magic that Boogs created at Revolver every Sunday morning week in week out, I immediately knew that he was put on this earth to do one thing. Over the next few years, through a mutual love of music, Boogs and I became best friends.’

There you go, their name was built around friendship, a theme and ethos they obs carried through and into their business. Honestly, if this were a feel-good movie, we’d all be leaving the cinema misty-eyed and very fucking satisfied.

To celebrate the team are rolling out a series of events, and the latest announcement will see Beatport sensation Rebuke return to Melbourne - and in a weirder-than-real-life turn of events Rebuke is actually the second cousin of Mike Toner. *Shakes head*… you can’t make this stuff up. He will, of course, be supported by Boogs; but if you really think about it, maybe Rebuke is supporting Boogs? You get the idea, the two of them together should get punters away from their TV’s and Game of Thrones and into the clurbs…

This follows the already announced event which will feature Patrick Topping and Patrice Baumel. Goddamn, that one will surely sell out so if you’re still on the fence get a ticket now. Actually, both will probably sell out so don’t be a doodle and get moving on those tickets ASAP.
