PIV Label Staples To Play Melbourne

Following the turn of the decade, Melbourne can rub its hands ahead of what’s sure to be another captivating summer of music. No doubt, :affinity events will feature heavily over the next couple of months.

Having hosted a diverse selection of techno artists in a nocturnal setting (Regal, Matrixxman and Claire Morgan), the collective has proved that they can align to the seasonal requirements and make the most of the long summer days too. They aren’t beholden to just techno, and they are more after what sounds good. (An example being their recent day party at The Gasometer Hotel with deep house don Djoko).

‘We are following down the path of a particular sound we see a lot of value in at the moment.’ :affinity co-director Will Howard AKA Suki explained to us. And one of those crews behind the sound he is referring to is the Dutch label PIV Records. ‘With some of the best forward-thinking groovy house music we have heard, PIV is hosting a movement we can get behind”. And they are putting their money where their mouth is and their next event will feature PIV’s Chris Stussy and Prunk.

They are two artists who in a few short years have accomplished a fair bit. A steady, assured releasing of EPs and individual productions have seen the two Dutchmen soar to the upper echelons of the groove-filled deep house genre. Included on the lineup will be Australia’s Litmus who will represent the southern hemisphere connection to the Dutch duo’s sound. Suki [Dolphin Flips/Equinox Events] will round out a supporting trio that also consists of BADEO [Dolphin Flips/Equinox Events] & Bex.

The showcase stands to be :affinity’s biggest venture to date, as they continue to raise their profile in 2020.
