LISTEN: The Sound Of Too Much DMT

KOBOSIL’S LABEL KEEPS ON DELIVERING…

In Verruf is an unknown Berlin producer who, by the sounds of it, likes to fucks with drugs. Of course, we don't want to make assumptions like that, but with titles like 'A Night On Acid' and 'Acid From Hell', either those productions are the work of a serious scientist recalling laboratory accidents, or they are odes to some hairy psychedelic moments. Another clue it is probably the former is they sound like the mental picture those titles are painting: intense psychedelic moments. His latest RIV1 EP, signed to Kobosil's harder than cement R-Label Group imprint, is another wild stab into drug-induced paranoia.

Across four tracks, the German lays the law with an exhilarating EP guaranteed to annoy your parents, neighbours and everyone else trying to go by their day reasonably. Yes, it's hard and unrelenting but don't be fooled by its vicious nature. It features melody too, moments of clarity that shatter through the techno crust like a death row prisoner breaking out of prison.

Our favourite, 'Too Much DMT', is a massive piece of engineering. It features a late-90s/early 00s melody that is at odds with the cut's viciousness. There are so many emotions rolled into this track that 'Too Much DMT' is probably a tad off, it should be titled 'Too much DMT/Acid/MDMA/alcohol/2-CB and Tobacco'.
