The 20 track compilation is the debut release on The Third Room’s new label…

These are tough times for any music promoter, and not many are more aware of this than German collective The Third Room. They got their start in 2017, hosting tough-as-nails techno events around their native Essen, a city not far from Dusseldorf. As founders Ahmet Sisman and VNNN explain, like many globally, the pandemic put their future at risk: “We had to find a way to overcome this financial crisis. It put a lot of people driven by love and dedication for what they do in a difficult situation.” Their loyal clientele was well aware of this, so after the pandemic forced the cancellation of The Third Room’s most recent event, ticket holders waived their refunds. It is a gesture of goodwill that hasn’t gone unnoticed: ‘We wanted to give all ticket buyers who waived their refunds for the cancelled event a “thank you” gift in the form of a Fundraiser Compilation.’  That is precisely what they did, sending all ticket holders a free download link for a cracking upcoming release.

As compilations go, this one’s a ripper, featuring productions from a bunch of The Third Room’s regular bookings, alongside a host of newer friends, from Dax J to Ellen Allien to Héctor Oaks and more. The compilation also serves as the debut release on The Third Room’s newly launched self-titled label. And if you weren’t a ticket holder don’t fret, the release will be available for purchase through their Bandcamp (check the pre-order link below). As far as a thank you gestures go, it’s a good one.
