Chewing the Fat with a crate digger…

Brickson is a Melbourne based Dj, party runner and avid party attender.  Always up for a groove and down for a chat about mental health, he is one of the creators of the Chewin the Fat parties, that aim to raise both awareness and donations for different mental health charities. The joy he receives from DJ’ing and gracing late-night dance floors is evident through his energetic and varied track selections and broad grin on his face. More times than not his dancing behind the decks infects those in front of him. His below selection journeys through three decades and showcase a selector very comfortable digging deep for new music…

First TRACK

INxs - Orginal Sin (1984)

‘INXS was gracing my little ears at a young age thanks to my dad, this has always been a favourite of mine to get my legs moving. Some would claim that this isn’t a ‘dance’ track, but hearing this at 6 am at one of the last Mercat parties proved otherwise to me! One of the first records I bought before I started to DJ’

classic TRACK

The Immortals - The Ultimate Warlord (1979)

‘This is what I would call a classic dance track in my skewed book of terms. Being released in 1979, just before the big breakout of Italo disco, the haunting synth lines and vocals were well ahead of their time and still resonate with dancers’ minds today. No matter how bad a mix may be going when playing out, The Ultimate Warlord is always a saving grace for the dancefloor.’

Current TRACK

Mr. Ho + Mogwaa - DistFreeStyle (2020)

‘Mr Ho lays his touch on any track and it immediately turns to gold. This dark electro-synthy blend is something I would love to play out whenever the world turns back to normal. His set last year at Hopkins Creek with Luca Lozano as Klasse Wrecks is probably my highlight set of 2019. Mr Ho can do no wrong in my mind.’
