Four tracks of classic house….

The Covid-19 era has truly sorted the mice from the men. Who will sink, and who will swim? And by sink, I mean who will binge watch Love Island, eat their feelings, and hate the world. And by swim, I mean who will utilise the time productively, kick career goals, and channel their pent up pandemic energy into a creative project.

Soul Wun has most certainly swum. The Newcastle-based artist who in the past has released works on clipp.art and 13th Hour Recordings has released a stunning four-track EP Fragments on Sloth Boogie’s imprint label SB JAMZ. Garnering early support from the likes of Art Of Tones, Chrissy, Fouk, and Honey Soundsystem, the EP’s leading track, ‘Japan Theme’, has already amassed over 20k plays on YouTube alone.

The project exudes elegance and sophistication from start to finish. Featuring rich jazz tipped samples, mature chord progressions and warmly tuned organic instrumentation, Fragments is the kind of project you put on while cooking dinner and drinking a glass of red alongside that special someone in your life that you’re trying to impress. Only to then have a bit too much of said wine and end up wasted dancing in the living room on a Wednesday night, but fuck it, it doesn’t matter because you’re working from home, and you basically get a sleep-in anyway.
Bueno.
