Sleep D Release A Psychedelic Dub Behemoth

Sleep D just dropped the upcoming summer’s most possessed track and we can’t get enough of it…

TFW when you did something wrong as a child and knew all hell was about to break loose once your parents found out. This is the malevolent vibe Sleep D conjures forth on their latest ‘See Mi Rockin’, a newie under their Mind Leaf and Herbaliser moniker.

It is fast and furious, and features a groove which is infectious and revolting in equal spades. The bass is thicker than a sailor’s rope, a boa constrictor tightening itself around your neck without remorse. A vocal loop stuck on repeat urges you to ‘see me rocking’, but it’s all fucked up: your mate puts on some weird mask, walks into the room acting like he isn’t wearing a mask, and upon you going ‘WTF bro, why you wearing that mask?’ he gaslights the shit out of you. (‘What? What you talking about? I’m not wearing a mask?’)

If meth had an equivalent to a k-hole this track is what would be on a loop inside that hole. If Satan was the main character in the 80’s cult movie ‘Flashdance’ the lead track would probably sound like this. If anxiety had an aural form this would be it. You get the point. All that said, like some sad character in a Greek tragedy we cannot stop listening to this. It’s engaging us on a level we didn’t know existed. And this is why we like music: to learn more about ourselves ha.

This beautiful monster drops on the 25th November through their Butter Sessions imprint and is strictly limited to 300 vinyl copies. No digital so don’t sleep on this. 8/5 stars
