Annegret Fiedler aka. Perel is the German artist birthing a new genre of dance music…

One of 2018’s breakthrough artist has to be Germany’s Perel. The unique producer has enamoured a whole scene with her unique take on electro, house and techno, and her hybrid live sets has seen her become a regular fixture on the world’s best stages. Her elegant fusion of softer electronic tones laden with her own euphoric vocals feels like a breath of fresh air, a feature that may stem from her East German identity and growing up amongst her parents vintage ‘krautrock’ records.

Both her DJ mixing skills and her hybrid live sets have garnered Perel international acclaim, and she became the first German to release on the infamous DFA record label. Her debut album released in 2018 titled ‘Hermetica’ is a the perfect example of her unique sound, and a huge assertion of her talent within the industry.

Perel’s upcoming set at Pitch Music and Arts 2019 will be her Australian debut, and it’s safe to say we’re more than keen to see what Perel has in store. Let’s take a look at our favourite tracks from Perel…

PEREL - ‘CHARLES MANSON’ (2016)

One of Perel’s heavier productions, this 2016 release on Do Not Sleep label needs little explanation. The grooving melodic bass-line, gut punching kick drum, and the ominous expansive effects dispersed throughout the track, eerily do credit to it’s aptly named title, ‘Charles Manson’ - think of it as the audible representation of Charles Manson, if he was a techno loving Berghain fiend who loves to sesh.

It appears ‘John C’ has been communicating regularly with those beyond the grave, to deliver us some important news…

PEREL - ‘DIE DIMENSION’ (2017)

This being her first release on DFA record label, ‘Die Dimenion’ sounds like a strong continuation from her earlier sound, infused with some 80s synth pop sensibility, and featuring her very own vocals. With remixes from the likes of Jayda G and Massimiliano Pagliara, this track sounds completely unique from any other artists within her genre, and proves Perel isn’t afraid to bend the confines of genre boundaries.

PEREL - ‘ALLES’ (2018)

From her debut album released in 2018 on DFA, this track moves in a completely new direction. With a strong focus on organic instrumentation and complex chord progressions, the track overall seems directly plucked from an 80s movie, produced to perfection. While it maintains it’s roots as a dance track, the song overall has much softer feel to it, and once more proves Perel’s versatility as an artist.

Nothing like a little heart to heart education time in the Youtube comments. Thanks Felix P…
