Intense techno and breaks from local producers…

Have you ever had a bucket of acid thrown in your face? If you’re like us then the answer is probably yes. For those who haven’t experienced a psychedelic bucket to the cranium just listen to the new EP by Melbourne local Devant. Released on the UK’s Socks & Sandals imprint, It’s called ‘Art’s House’ and it is a lively one.

We are a bit late to this one as the EP has been out for w while, but better late than never right? With an ice cold synth weaving through a spoken word lamenting electronic music politics, the main single ‘Art Show’ begins innocuously enough. That all changes when a hard-as-bricks house beat explodes 303 acid all over your ears. This could have been crafted in a clown-themed funhouse: a bit eerie and unsettling, but at the same time many measures of fun.

Recent Local Form subject dyLAB is on remix duties and he takes the acid to Timothy Leary levels. The 4/4 from the original makes way for a vicious-as-fuck amen breaks workout, and the spoken word is coated with industrial sludge turning the rant into a vicious snarl. Pretty intense.

It was recently featured on Bandcamp’s Best Electronic Music for June and they called it the most ‘warm-hearted acid you’ll hear this year’. ‘Art’s House’ is worthy of your attention. Show your support through Bandcamp and purchase here.
