PREMIERE: AK Sports Excellent New Music Video

AK Sports funnels an old cinema classic through a feminist lens…

On AK Sports’ recent single ‘Dit Quelque Chose’, released on Sydney’s Gallery Recordings, there is a familiarity to the melody that feels comforting. That might be the reason why the song’s title, according to Google, translates to ‘it rings a bell’ in French, because, well, it sounds familiar. But it’s not just the melody that sucks you in, there is a rage behind those jackhammer beats that forces you to pay attention. It grabs you by the collar and shakes you until the message sinks in. Think the abrasiveness of Fuck Buttons with the energy of a 90’s orbital motorway rave in London. In short: It’s a banger.

Her brand new video for the single is a banger too. Via archival footage found in the public domain, AK Sports has collaborated with director Mohini Herse to provide the viewer with an alternative retelling of the seminal horror classic Night of The Living Dead. Not only does the video exist as a homage to the zombie classic, but they also rework the source material to offer a modern feminist retelling empowering the women within this film as heroes. It’s an engaging watch made only infinitely more enjoyable by the pressing soundtrack. 

Watch out for the name of AK Sports, the LA-based producer’s trajectory is proof of bigger things to come.
