WATCH: Memphis LK Drops Dreamy New Video For 'Letters In Concrete'

Memphis LK’s latest is the dreamy fusion of electro-pop, two-step garage, and driving bass…

Well folks, she’s done it again. Memphis LK continues to defy genre boundaries by fusing gritty underground dance music with the upbeat pop sensibility you come to hear in Top 40 charts. Fresh from releasing a highly lauded cover of Tame Impala's 'The Less I Know The Better', her new banger is the breath of sugary, sweet fresh air we all need to liven up the shit show called 2020.

'Letters In Concrete' is an original production that could be the sonic lovechild of Kllo and Courtney Barnett. It features soft euphoric chord progressions, paired with the raw juxtaposition of a distorted 808 break, and Memphis' own Australiana vocals playfully dancing above her carefully arranged productions. It's like electro-pop meets 2-step UKG - and we are absolutely here for it.

I wanted to juxtapose the idea of rigid concrete with the idea that nothing is forever - life is always flowing and changing, and when we accept that, maybe we can become that little bit more free.” - Memphis LK

The accompanying music video positions Memphis in an open expanse, nothing but the blue sky behind her, living her best damn life. Featuring soft, warm tones that reminds of an indie movie shot on film, the overall mood of the video clip feels a little like falling in love. Interspersed throughout this romantic visual, is the kind of high-speed overexposed shots you'd come to associate with a music video you'd see on Rage at 3 in the morning circa 1999. All in all, the film clip will likely make you want to drive to country Victoria when Daddy Andrews allows us to do so, and spin around in a circle with your arms held up to the sky. Well at least that's what I'll be doing when lockdown ends - and of course - 'Letters In Concrete' will be blasting in the background.
