PREMIERE: Pretty Girl Soars on Human Movement Remix

This could be the post-lockdown anthem we’ve been waiting for…

We recently featured five local producers you should watch out for. Trust us when we say with the wealth of talent floating around it was quite a process. After many sleepless nights trying to whittle down 1000s of candidates into five, a settlement was finally reached amongst Form contributors. One name that was never going to be in contention, however, was Melbourne's Emilia Predebon aka Pretty Girl. And if you needed more proof of her bright future, let her latest remix settle that argument for good (in our favour of course).

The Melbourne native has reworked the new Human Movement single 'Waiting'a track we called 'a broken beat gem filled with thick atmosphere and a bittersweet melody'. If the original played around with a Bicep-like melancholy you might experience in a chill-out room at a mid-90s English countryside rave, then Pretty Girl's remix is the meatier cousin played at the same event on the main stage dancefloor. If Four Tet dropped this in a DJ set, anywhere, you would go: 'Yeah, that's about right, this is exactly the sort of tunes I would expect to hear from the most prodigious and unique talent working in dance music today'.

Pretty Girl replaces the original's fractured beats with the increased BPMs of 4/4 bassline house and adds effervescent energy that could parse a smile from a rock. The bubbling acid lines and stuttered melodies are stitched inside the beats like DNA strands filled with harmonic information. And that glorious drop after the breakdown is equivalent to Premier Dan Andrews telling Victoria that the lockdown is finally fucking over. So go on, treat yourself: reach for that top-shelf while listening to this.

Release Date: 12 November through Of Leisure.
