PREMIERE: XYSid - 'Synthetic Oscillation Systems'

proper dancefloor gear which bodes well for the upcoming debut album…

Have you ever pondered fixing something in the past by travelling backwards in time? Via, you know, time inversion? Or reversed entropy (if you need a better reference)? No, no… it is definitely not the plot of Tenet, that movie is way more complicated. We just mean that is the frequency we dial in on while listening to the latest from local label Backpocket Slammers. True to form, it’s a slammer. Of the electro kind. Noice.

"Who is behind Backpocket Slammers?" Glad you asked. As you would expect from that plural (s), the main team behind BPS consists of more than one, a duo to be exact: My Boyfriend and XYSid. Fact: During COVID, Backpocket Slammers evolved into more than a series of non-existed (sic) events by turning their attention towards music. Fact: they describe their tunes as "energy music" intending to become an oxymoronic (ED: very nice) renowned underground Party Label. Fact: Tenet… ugh. (Ed: OK we get it you didn't like the movie just move on mate).

Back to the track. It's taken from XYSid's upcoming debut album titled, Synthetic Oscillation Systems. And if the single, which goes by the same name, is anything to go by, prepare yourself for a state-wide lockdown as it all might go viral. (*insert Doge meme here*). It's a direct and effective jam, accentuated every now and again by crunchy-as-fuck hats and a synthesised vocal that sounds like Miss Kitten stuck in a midi keyboard. It all feels very urgent, like lives are at stake, a hidden message with instructions on how we can move backward in time to go save… ourselves. 😥

Important info: XYSid's debut album will be released on 17 December. On the Backpocket Slammers label. In the meantime, go to their Bandcamp (link below) and place your orders while listening to the new single.
