The Space Between Us imprint returns with six impressive tracks from new artist Dociyle…

Our love for Brisbane's The Space Between Us imprint is well documented. Lovingly guided by label manager Hannah Doody, the label's strike rate for finding fresh talent are more impressive than Scott Morrison's recent newfound ability to cry at press conferences. And with release number four the label hits it out of the park once again: the Devs/Deus EP from Brisbane-based artist, Dociyle. On his debut for the label, or anywhere else for that matter, he impressively channels auteurs like Jon Hopkins, Djrum and Skee Mask to deliver six tracks filled with precision engineering that packs a lot of emotional punch. The drums are immense, and the sound design meticulously crafted for maximum drama. More times than not, the drama verge on trepidation (check 'Servitor'), but it does have moments of absolute joy too (nice one 'Devs'). But at the end of the day, this is layered music that will suck you into its phantasmagoric sci-fi world - and with the current state of global events a fantasy world to escape to ain't that bad.
