NEWS: Roza Terenzi And Tornado Wallace Returns For Street Party

It will be their first local shows since before the start of the pandemic…

One of our favourite 2020 tunes was 'That Track'. You know the one: it bounces like five hyperactive kids on a trampoline and has more energy than the Large Hadron Collider. In what was an ocean of pandemic anxiety, that tra… tune's 5 minutes and 49 seconds runtime turned out to be a glorious island. It has the rare power of instantly taking you out of whatever illogical mind field you find yourself in to transport you to a place of yeah-everything-is-going-to-be-all-right-as-long-as-I-listen-to-this-sick-groove territory.

However, that was just one of many sweet jams from the creative mind of Roza Terenzi, and that whole Modern Bliss EP on Planet Euphorique is worthy of classic status. It's been almost 18 months since she last graced a pair of local decks, but in the immortal slogan of a certain country's recent sporting campaign: She's Coming Home. Indeed, Roza Terenzi will return to play a smalltown under the Westgate Freeway Bridge, and that is bloody good news.

Tornado Wallace

Wholesome…

Joining her is fellow local legend Tornado Wallace, last seen in Melbourne playing a Hopkins Creek 2019 closing set. From nostalgia to trance to good times, that set has it all. Not only does he do A-MAZING sets, but he seems like the sort of DJ you would take home to meet your parents as proof that wholesome characters *do* exist in the club scene. Sometimes I like to think he leads a solitary existence pondering life before having a cathartic experience on a rare modular synth, ripping out another highly eclectic jam that takes inspiration from 15 different musical cultures. The thinking woman or man's DJ if you like. My fanfiction can go on… and it will! Sometimes I think that Tornado Wallace is a James Bond-type suave charm… Ok, I'll stop. You get it. We love him.

On support duties, we have Pjenné and Millú, whose recent Odyssey mix is a deadset statement, and local upstarts Marli and Willem. This looks well mint. Smalltown? More like BIGTOWN amirite?!
