Anna Impresses With Jon Hopkins Remix

Brazil’s finest remixes Jon Hopkins with devastating results…

Brazil’s Anna has quietly gone about her career in a way that is almost textbook in its approach: A lot of touring and producing quality tracks. In the space of two years she has gone from being a young upstart doing introductory tours to different territories to returning to those same areas as a bona fide headliner.

And if you need more proof of her meteoric rise, she has just been tapped on the shoulder to remix Jon Hopkins.

To apply the pressure even more, she has been asked to remix ‘Singularity’, one of the more abstract electronic tracks to be found on his recent ‘Singularity’ LP. I mean, how do you turn gold into.. .um… gold? Well you don’t, you melt it down and remould the gold into something different. And that is exactly what Anna has done.

She has taken the melodic element of the original and placed it on top of what is quickly becoming a trademark Anna sound: a robust techno rhythm that is equivalent to a boxer’s knockout punch. On top of this, she eloquently threads the melody through the stomping rhythm before a massive crack explodes in the bassline which will sound HUUUUGE on a big sound system. After that, it’s all hands-in-the-air as Hopkins’s original melody takes control of the breakdown before the gut-punch techno starts again. It’s proper.

We have placed our bets: in the next 12 months, Anna will be one of the globe’s biggest dance music acts.
