The Space Between Us label is going from strength to strength. Starting as a labour of love to highlight emerging Brisbane producers, it’s becoming an Australian staple for essential electronic music. They’ve just added another feather to their cap: the pending release of their debut solo artist EP with WakeUpNeo’s excellent six track release Fractions.
We first heard of producer WakeUpNeo through his smokey production ‘When I’m Gone’ (Break Mix), released on the label’s highly recommend Hybrida compilation. The single featured unhurried jungle rhythms and a fog of synths and reverb, showcasing a producer with a unique approach. Living up to the EP’s title, broken beats are the main thread on the upcoming six-track release. Fractions might be about two tracks shy of being an LP, but that only means the quality throughout is highly consistent. With its electro-step and wild acid, closing track ‘Mineral Acid’ could be the most sparkling track from the EP. It is an energetic workout which should see a lot of airtime over the summertime dancefloors.
