The 10 track project titled Ohana sits somewhere between Mall Grab, Tame Impala, and Four Tet…

In the life of a creative artist striving to create a unique and inventive moniker to showcase their art, things always come full circle. *Well at least for a select few, who we are handpicking for the purpose of supporting this hypothesis*. This can be said for Australian artist Chet Faker who inevitably returned to releasing music under his birth name Nick Murphy, as well as Project Pablo, who recently hung up his Mr Pablo title, going back to his roots as Patrick Holland. The latest name to support this completely coincidental theory? Mall Grab.

The ultimate Aussie DJ next door, Mall Grab aka Jordon Alexander has made a big name for himself in recent years, performing at global festivals Dekmantel, DGTL, AVA, Lost & Found, Hideout and Parklife alongside some of the biggest artists in the industry. With a string of releases on record renowned record labels 1080p, Shall Not Fade, ava. and his own imprint Steel City Dance Discs, his latest album released on his secondary imprint label Looking For Trouble is a 10 track masterclass in diversifying your discography.

Titled Ohana, this album is the second project released under his Jordon Alexander title. It’s clear that the album, and ultimately his Jordan Alexander title veers in a different direction to his Mall Grab alias entirely. Featuring soft melancholic synthesizers, reverberated guitar solo’s, and his own dreamy vocals on ‘E36’, Ohana acts as the soft nostalgic response to his expansive career as a primarily acid house/rave producer. To bear witness to the Aussie ex-pat’s softer side, listen to Ohana here.
